Profhilo is considered a very safe treatment when carried out by a qualified medical professional, such as a doctor or licensed healthcare practitioner registered with the UAE health authorities (MOHAP, DHA or DOH). As with any injectable treatment, minor bruising can sometimes occur. To help reduce this risk, patients are often advised to avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medicines such as Ibuprofen for 24 hours before treatment.
What are the risks of Profhilo?
Every medical treatment carries some risks, but with Profhilo these are very small.
Risk | Description |
|---|---|
Redness | A normal reaction to the injections, usually fading within a few hours to a few days. |
Swelling | Mild swelling around the injection points, typically resolving within 2–3 days. |
Bruising | Caused by minor damage to tiny blood vessels during injection; usually minimal thanks to the BAP technique and disappears on its own. |
Pain or tenderness | Short-lived irritation at the injection sites, which can be eased with a cold compress. |
Infection | Extremely rare when strict hygiene is followed. Symptoms include persistent redness, warmth or pain. |
Allergic reaction | Exceptionally rare as Profhilo is made from biocompatible hyaluronic acid. An optional allergy test can rule this out in advance. |
Uneven distribution | Very uncommon; may cause slight unevenness in texture, which can be corrected with aftercare massage or a top-up injection. |
